Obituary of Connie Jean Kerr

Connie was born in Springfield Missouri on January 15, 1942, then moved to Colorado with her parents and baby sister, Sandy, in 1947. She grew up in the then small town of Edgewater, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1959. She married her high school sweetheart, Bob Kerr, and they made their home in the nearby area known as Mountair, currently a part of the City of Lakewood.

Connie lost her first daughter, Debra, on the day of her birth. Debra was followed by her surviving children, daughter Chris and son Rick. She worked part-time during her children’s elementary years, so was able to be an active member of PTO, becoming president; supported participation in school activities and clubs; and was the number one fan at all the sports activities, including becoming the softball coach of a bunch of high school girls when no one else would, even though she never played. She presided over tons of birthday parties, trips to the zoo and days at the pool. Her support for her kids extended to her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all their friends. Her home was open to all, and all felt they were a part of her family.

In 1973, mostly because no one believed she could, she became a school bus driver for Jefferson County Schools. She worked way up to Director of Transportation and retired in 2005.

Connie kept active after her retirement. She and Bob loved going to the grandkids and great grandkids sporting events and bowling, activities she continued after she lost Bob. She enjoyed getting together with her sisters once a week for dinner and games, trips to the pool with the great grandkids and nieces, and going to lunch with friends once a month.

In her retirement, she and Bob loved their garden, flowers, and yard. With the help of her family, she was able to keep all her flowers blooming each summer.

Finally, Connie loved her dogs. They each had a special place in her heart and were waiting for her on the Rainbow Bridge.

Her life was full of love, family, and friends. We will all miss her but will keep her in our hearts.

Connie is survived by her daughter Chris, her husband Ron; her son Rick and his wife Netty; her grandkids Marcus, Kyle, Jason, Dominic and Lance; her great grandkids Kaylee, Tamilyn (TL), Dani, Chase, Joseph, Jason (JJ) and Nikolai (Niko); her sisters Shirley and husband Dan, Nancy, Terri and partner Scott; sister-in-law Donna; brother-in-law Richard; nieces and nephews Jim, his wife Lynda and their kids Darcy and McClean; Tony and his wife Annette, their kids Eric, his son Dylan, and Nate; Kimmi and her husband Jesse and their kids Ella and Sophie; and Matt.

Our family invites family and friends to join us as we celebrate her life on February 9th from 3:00 – 7:00 with an open house at 10 Morningside Drive, Wheatridge, Co 80215.
