Obituary of Margaret Joann Mrkvicka

Margaret Joann Mrkvicka, born Margaret Coogan on July 4, 1941, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2024, in Lakewood, Colorado. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments.

Margaret was a devout Catholic and cherished her wide friendship group with long-standing traditions. She enjoyed regular coffee visits, monthly Bunco games, dinner dates, and movies with her dear friends. Margaret valued relationships above all else, and her decades-long friendships were a testament to her caring and loving nature. She believed that friends were family.

Family was of utmost importance to Margaret, and she found immense joy in being a mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family, and her influence shines through in all of her children and grandchildren. Margaret will be remembered for her funny and caring personality, always there for her loved ones in a moment of need.

Margaret is survived by her brother, James Coogan, and her sons, David, Andrew (Amanda) and Mark Mrkvicka. She was also a loving grandmother to Emily Mrkvicka Gorham, Alyssa Campbell, Olivia Mrkvicka and Jacob Mrkvicka. She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted Mrkvicka, and her brothers, Thomas Coogan, Joseph Coogan, and Michael Coogan.

In her educational journey, Margaret attended St. Francis De Sales Catholic School, where she received a solid foundation for her future endeavors.

Margaret volunteered and worked at Zerger Elementary while her children were enrolled there, ensuring she could be home with her boys after school. Following the untimely passing of her husband, Ted, in 1982, Margaret secured a job at Kaiser Permanente in the Medical Records office. She found great fulfillment during her years at Kaiser, transitioning from the Medical Records office to Urology and eventually retiring in Eye Care. Margaret formed a strong sense of community and lifelong friendships during her time at Kaiser, which she treasured dearly.

A ceremony to honor and celebrate Margaret's life will be held on March 16, 2024, at 11 AM at the Westminster Recreation Center located at 10455 Sheridan Boulevard, Westminster, CO 80020.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Margaret's memory to the Dementia Society of America.
