Obituary of Qi Jiang

 

Qi Jiang, 93, of Aurora, Colorado, peacefully passed away on December 26th, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Qi was born on March 16th, 1930 to Bing Zhang Jiang and Shi Xu in Yixing, China. She studied highschool in Changzhou and graduated college from Shanghai Ocean University with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology. 

 

After graduation, she began her career in research at an institute of biology. She later worked in education for 29 years, where she taught marine biology and English at Shanghai Wuyi High School. Qi was passionate about teaching and loved what she did for a living. 

 

She married Pu Ping Cai  in 1956 and had two children, Zhi Wei and Zhi Ping. 

 

After retiring in 1987, Qi spent her time reading, knitting, going on walks, watching Shaoxing opera, and loving her family.

 

She moved to the United States in 2003, and became a citizen in 2012. 

 

Qi was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, and son. She is survived by her daughter, Zhi Ping, and her granddaughter, Emily (Kevin).

蒋琪，93岁，来自科罗拉多州奥罗拉市，在经过与阿尔茨海默病的长期搏斗后, 于2023年12月26日安详离世。

蒋琪于1930年3月16日出生在中国宜兴，是张炳章和许氏的女儿。她在常州完成了高中学业，并在上海海洋大学获得了海洋生物学学士学位。

毕业后，她的第一份工作是在一个生物研究所从事研究工作。后来，她在教育领域工作了29年，在上海五一中学教海洋生物学科和英语。蒋琪对教学充满热情，热爱她的职业。

1956年，她与蔡普平结婚，育有两个子女，至慰和至平。

1987年退休后，蒋琪用大多数时间花在阅读、编织、散步、观赏绍兴戏剧以及关爱家人上。

2003年，她移居到美国，并于2012年成为美国公民。

蒋琪的父母、丈夫、兄弟姐妹和儿子都先于她离世。目前在世是她的女儿至平，女婿 Ray  和外孙女 Emily 爱丽，外孙女婿 Kevin。
