Obituary of Nona Kaye Thompson Hammon

Nona Kaye Thompson Hammon died at 78 at home in Wheat Ridge Colorado on 2/6/2024, according to her wishes.  She was cremated, as was her plan, on 2/15/2024.

Nona graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Alabama in June 1983; a significant accomplishment that she valued highly.  She worked for many years in the legal profession before turning her attention to travel and teaching English as a second language, finishing her career with two state governmental positions (Illinois and Louisiana) before retiring.  She was a life-long gardener, master knitter, adept jewelry maker, and adored her pet dogs Mia and Brie, who comforted her greatly in her final years.

Nona is survived by two daughters, Catherine and Elizabeth, her grandson Steven, and enjoyed being a great grandmother to his daughters.  Her sisters, Paula and Loretta, are still with us, however her younger brother Wayne predeceased her on 4/19/2023.  Her parents died separately several years ago. 

We are grateful to all who showed Nona kindness, love, and understanding throughout the stages of her life and finally in her struggle with Multiple Systems Atrophy-Parkinsonian type (MSA-P).
